Adelaide Bee Sanctuary was established in January 2015.
The work of Adelaide Bee Sanctuary shows how the wonderful city of Adelaide can become a Sanctuary to bees because of the people who support us. By bringing bees into the gardens and onto the rooftops of Adelaide we hope to facilitate awareness of the wider ecology and our role in it.
People want to know where their food comes from. Where was it farmed? Was it ethically sourced? Is it sustainable? Adelaide Bee Sanctuary is responding to the call by incorporating natural beekeeping practices to honeybee care and by providing locally and ethically sourced honey. Adelaide Bee Sanctuary aims to do this by offering chefs with the opportunity to sponsor a beehive and incorporating a portion of the honey that has come from the beehive into their own signature dishes. What better way of demonstrating source of origin in action!
Adelaide Bee Sanctuary is delighted to be working in collaboration with Simon Bryant chef and television presenter with Maggie Beer on the ABC’s ‘The Cook and The Chef’. Simon believes in ethically sourced, local and fresh ingredients to create a meal that is filled with honesty and which does justice to the amazing flavour that good produce offers. Simon’s profile places him in a unique position to incorporate the important role that bees play in enabling us to enjoy the fruits and vegetables of our gardens and orchards. Adelaide Bee Sanctuary would like to thank Simon for his support as its ambassador – www.simonbryant.com.au
